Uttar Pradesh home department is now active on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter as part of state government's initiative to reach out more people. Principal secretary (Home) Debashish Panda said social media will help provide information to common man about initiatives taken by the department from time to time. "People may now use the two platforms information on important issues law and order and crime control and welfare schemes launched by the police, besides their achievements and policies.

Facebook account has been named 'Home Department UP' while Twitter handle is 'HomeDepttUP'. The two accounts have been linked, Panda said.
