updating pages that use a template

Hi there, just a small problem i have.
I've this website and i used a template for all the subpages i have. These index's to all the subpages are in their own directory too. So it's basically 1 subpage template, many subpage index. Ok the problem comes when i want to update the template. I use dreamweaver and all the subpages are updated, BUT they are not all uploaded once the template is updated. So this is my main problem. I'll either have to go through all the directories and upload each page that has the template or i have to figure out something else.

What part of the page are you updating? Let's say you are updating your header. You could put your header code in it's own file and then include that file in the rest of your pages via a server side include using SSI, PHP, ASP/ASP.NET, etc...

Server side includes are a godsend.
