    VPS An Introduction...

    Virtual private server
Virtual private servers or Virtual dedicated servers are a form of virtualization that splits a single physical server into multiple virtual servers. The practice of partitioning a single server so that it appeared as multiple servers has long been common practice in mainframe computers, but has seen a resurgence lately with the development of software such as VMware, User-mode Linux, FreeVPS, Virtuozzo and Xen.

    Internet hosting
In the Internet hosting service industry, virtual private servers fill a void between shared web hosting service and dedicated hosting service. They allow root-level access to individual clients without requiring physically dedicated servers. They are most widely used by businesses and individuals that need a customized solution that cannot be filled in a shared hosting environment.

    Clustered hosting
A variant of virtual hosting is Concentric's proprietary clustered hosting technology. It uses a cluster of physical machines each running virtual hosts.

    Computer security
Virtual private servers have also become popular for their ability to establish sandboxes. For example, a single physical server might have two virtual private servers running: one hosting the production-level (live) website, and a second which houses a copy of it. When updates to crucial parts of software need to be made, they can be tested in the second VPS, allowing for detailed testing to be conducted without requiring several physical servers.

Virtual private servers are also sometimes employed to provide honeypots, allowing a machine to deliberately run software with known security flaws. Because it is possible to quickly deploy multiple virtual private servers on a single computer, honeypots are much easier to deploy, allowing better insight into the world of computer security.

Virtual Private Server technology presents multiple isolated server environments on a single physical server. It uses its own disk space, RAM, CPU, IP addresses and it can be rebooted independently. Each VPS performs and executes exactly like a stand-alone server. In nearly every perspective you can see a VPS as if it’s a dedicated server.

VPS is a hosting environment that gives you your own Unix virtual machine. Each VPS is a private and protected area that operates as an independent server.

The VPS allows multiple customers to share the expense of hardware and network connections (and completely eliminate the h***le of maintaining it all) without sacrificing performance or the freedom to run whatever software you choose.

The secret behind VPS is how a single physical server is shared. Even though multiple customers share hardware, they do not share software.

Every VPS has its own complete directory structure and set of dedicated applications (Web server, mail server, etc.). And with VPS v2, each can be rebooted without affecting any other VPS on the physical server.

              Here are some more details:

A virtual private server provides the features of a dedicated server on a machine that is shared by other Web hosting customers. Customers therefore get hosting services that are similar to that of dedicated Web hosting without sacrificing privacy or performance.

A virtual private server (VPS, also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS) is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted

The practice of partitioning a single server so that it appears as multiple servers has long been common practice in mainframe computers, but has seen a resurgence lately with the development of virtualization software and technologies for other architectures

Virtual private servers bridge the gap between shared web hosting services and dedicated hosting services, giving independence from other customers of the VPS service in software terms but at less cost than a physical dedicated server. As a VPS runs its own copy of its operating system, customers have superuser-level access to that operating system instance, and can install almost any software that runs on the OS. Certain software does not run well in a virtualized environment, including firewalls, anti-virus clients, and indeed virtualizers themselves; some VPS providers place further restrictions, but they are generally lax compared to those in shared hosting environments. Due to the number of virtualization clients typically running on a single machine, a VPS generally has limited processor time, RAM, and disk space.

Due to their isolated nature, VPSes have become common sandboxes for possibly-insecure public services or update testing. For example, a single physical server might have two virtual private servers running: one hosting the production-level (live) website, and a second which houses a copy of it. When updates to crucial parts of software need to be made, they can be tested in the second VPS, allowing for detailed testing to be conducted without requiring several physical servers.

Virtual Private Servers (VPS) are designed for the customer looking for more control than a shared web hosting account, yet not ready for a dedicated server. These private servers include root access, guaranteed resources, a full-featured control panel, and complete web hosting technical support 24/7.

                  VPS An Introduction..

VPS Hosting also recognizes the PHP. PHP may be a computer language that's applied for development of websites that are dynamic. It is possible to download the graphics and make the website using the support of them. Even cold fusion can run successfully on the VPS hosting products and services. The last among the programs is ASP.net, which is an essential for the programmers. Like this any program could be developed and executed while using ist of windows internet hosting.
